No. While DBAN is headquartered in Asaba, Delta State, we are open to national and international investors who want to be part of Africa’s startup growth story—particularly in underrepresented regions like the Niger Delta.

Our goal is to make angel investing Inclusive and accessible. However, Investment amounts vary per opportunity, but generally: Minimum commitment starts at (₦1,000,000 - ₦5,000,000) per deal. You can co-invest with other Angels or go solo on select deals. There’s no upfront investment obligation— you choose the startups you want to back. DBAN also supports syndicate deals, where multiple investors pool funds to back a single venture, reducing individual exposure and making entry easier.

We take investor protection seriously. While startup investing carries inherent risks, DBAN has implemented several safeguards to help protect your capital. Each startup undergoes rigorous due diligence, including comprehensive screening and background checks. Our legal team ensures that all investment agreements—whether SAFE, Convertible Notes, or Shareholders Agreements—are properly structured and documented. To further mitigate risk, we offer syndicate investing, allowing you to co-invest with others and diversify across multiple deals. Our portfolio companies receive ongoing advisory support and are required to provide periodic reporting to investors. Additionally, you can stay actively involved or rely on DBAN’s experienced advisory team for mentorship and continuous investment monitoring. Rigorous Due Diligence: Every startup undergoes screening and background checks. Legal Structuring: Investment agreements are vetted and structured with proper legal documentation (SAFE, Convertible Notes, Shareholders Agreements, etc.). Syndicate Investing: You can co-invest with others to spread risk across multiple deals. Governance & Reporting: Portfolio startups are guided with ongoing advisory and periodic reporting to investors. Mentorship & Monitoring: You can stay involved or assign DBAN’s experienced advisory team to monitor your investments.

As a DBAN member, you’ll gain access to a curated deal flow of vetted startups, along with detailed due diligence reports and founder interviews. You’ll have opportunities to participate in investment syndicates and co-invest alongside venture capitalists, donors, and other angel investors. Membership also includes access to angel investing training, workshops, webinars, and demo days. For those who actively mentor startups, there are opportunities to earn success fees and advisor equity. Additionally, members enjoy exclusive access to the DBAN credit line and invitation-only events.

As part of DBAN, we offer ongoing training and capacity-building sessions covering essential topics such as the fundamentals of angel investing, how to evaluate startup pitches, and legal and financial literacy for early-stage investing. We also provide guidance on portfolio management and exit strategies. Our Angel Investor Bootcamps, webinars, and masterclasses are designed for both seasoned investors and newcomers who want to build wealth while supporting innovation.
